on the 29th day of may 1999, a remarkable date in the history of nigeria general abdul salam abubakr handed over power to the civilian government of general olusegun obasanjo after a free and fair election conducted by the newly established independent national electoral commission and supervised by the military government of general abdul salam abubakr

eight years rule of general olusegun obasanjo came to an end and the democratic government of alhaji umaru musa yaradua took over power on the same date

after some years a serious as a president he fought a serious ailement which the lord used as an instrument for his death thus his vice in the person of goodluck ebele jonathan

  some years later an opposition party was formed by the coalition of some parties and it brought an end to the rule of the peoples democratic party and the paty brought to power the government of rtd general muhammad buhari .
