NIGERIA- SOUTH AFRICA
Xenophobia,
Could this be political?
Is this really material?
Are we being killed for spoiling their Nation as some claim?
Are we being killed for committing crimes?
Are our growing businesses the problem?
Could this be about the threatening population
Of some of us who have moved there?

Today in South Africa Nigerians are killed mercilessly,
People are happily flogged and burnt to death,
No mercy, no human sympathy, no conscience,
Is this jungle Justice?
When has man become so full of rage and hate,
Heartless and so bloodthirsty?
Where have we gone wrong?
Could any of these reasons earlier mentioned
Be enough to take another man's life?

To make things worse,
I see people posting,
"break all your MTN SIM cards",
"Steal or burn down Shoprite",
"Close down all their industries",
Then I asked myself,
which of these companies are responsible for the killings?
Is it now that we want to begin to value our own homemades?

Because it is a foreign affair, because it has gone out,
everyone is interested,
Burning data  and condemning,
Yes we must speak against evils,
But this we must take into cognizance,
If a Mother hen eats up her chicks what would the hawks do?
Do you think the hawks would find anything wrong with preying?

Today South -Africans are killing us and we are feeling like saints,
Forgetting the many times we have been kidnapping, slaughtering and killing ourselves,
What has the government said or done?
Have we finished the problems in our stomachs?

If this country was good enough, many of our loved ones wouldn't have gone therein their numbers in search of greener pastures. If we were able to fix certain things as a nation, this nonsense wouldn't have been heard of. We are speaking for unity as a continent when as a country we are not united. Are we not hypocrites?

Charity they say begins at home. We really have to look within and fix things right even as we look abroad. Many are dismissed and killed from foreign lands, what of the many displaced and killed right in their own fatherland and in their ancestral homes? Has any serious step been taken?

Two wrongs cannot make a right. God has blessed us with ourselves and that is why we lack what others have, together we make the world a better place. We should never be intimidated by others instead we should seek to make peace and this would involve the two governments and largely, the understanding, love and forgiveness of the people. South Africans, don't stain your land with the blood of foreigners, it'd be a course to countless generations. We are one Africa.
